IDOT, the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), and members of the project team have made presentations to key stakeholders, along with various educational and public safety organizations, to discuss the changes in operation and equipment on this segment. IDOT and members of the project team have also been attending community events to alert area residents and personally communicate information about high-speed trains while focusing on education and the safety aspects associated with higher speed trains. The demonstration run took place on October 19, 2012; higher speed service began between Dwight and Pontiac on November 22, 2012.
